Summer with the Browns

Here are a few pictures of Molly and her BLUE RIBBONS! The were taken at the Newton County Fair for 4-H.

These pictures were taken during a reinactment of a Civil War battle. Charlie was the colonel in charge at the time. It was his idea to do the whole thing and they had 90 people take part in it. It was really cool! One picture is of Molly and Kayla washing clothes in a refugee camp. Lanae was in it too, but I didn't get a picture of her because she was with another group. There is also one of Maddie with her handerchief doll.

WE'RE BACK!!

...or maybe you didn't know we were gone!!

Well, Jim and Doris, Doug and I traveled to Washington to see Uncle John and his family. On the way out we drove through the Badlands, northern section of Yellowstone National Park to the Mammoth Hot Springs and through Mt. Ranier National Park. Here are some pictures from our travel out to Washington.

We came through Colorado and the Rocky Mountain National Park on the way home. I didn't get any pictures because my camera's batteries went dead. It was a good trip but we are glad to be back home.

NEOSHO VBS 2006

Hi all, We just got through with our VBS too. It had a western theme to it. I built the back 1/4 of a chuck wagon and we made wanted posters of several of the adults and posted them around the church. Kids were to bring canned goods or offering to put in the chuck wagon. The story was the life of David. The teens did a skit each night on "Sheriff Saul" and "Davey" The story paralleled the Biblical account of Saul and David. The adults watched DVDs by Wallbuilders, which is a conservative group started by David Barton. The DVDs were about the founding fathers and the basis of US government. I recomment every Christian watch them and see just how much we have lost the Christian principles in our nation. I have included some photos for you to see... of the VBS. We had 30-35 kids each night. For a church of 75, I think that was a success. It was the most fun I have had doing a VBS. Special thanks to Lynette for coming up with the ideas and organizing it all.

We had around 80 kids in VBS this year and about 15 decisions!

Mission: Hope in Arkansas

Hey Rachel-Trying to catch up on posting....Going back to June. Here's a few pictures of our trip to Hope, Arkansas where we worked with Robin at the Migrant Mission Center.

We called this Robin's "office." This is where she handed out the hygiene packs. Sometimes she would let someone else help!

One of our projects was to clean and organize the clothing room. Above you will see the before and after pictures.

We put the clothes out on shelves and racks when room became available. This is where the migrant workers would pick out the clothes they wanted. We were able to help them find what they needed.

Other jobs were mowing the grounds. Troy did that. Cheryl, Tammy, and Cole helped Robin put together hygiene packs. Troy, Paul, Heather and I cleaned and organized the clothing storage room. Paul and Troy also built legs for a ping pong table. We all helped to change the craft room and game rooms around. They needed cleaning out first. It was two full days of work but it was worth it when we finished. Heather and Robin were able to talk with the migrant workers and share the Gospel while we took care of the behind the scenes jobs. I have lots of pictures but it takes too long to download them. Maybe I can send you some via snailmail! I may have another post before you get back to the capital. Pics of VBS and our new SUV.
